Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett may be struggling, but head coach Frank Reich has his back.

Following a rough Monday night performance against the New Orleans Saints in which Brissett completed just 18 of his 35 throws for 165 yards in a 34-7 loss, some wondered if the Colts could turn to Chad Kelly over the final couple of weeks.

But Reich says that is not happening:

“Jacoby’s our quarterback,” Reich said, according to Stephen Holder of The Athletic. “We’re still fighting to get better for these next two games and, really, for next year. Jacoby is still a second-year starter.”

Reich added that he and Brissett had a “long talk” about the miscues Brissett had during the defeat.

Brissett, who was thrown into the starting role a couple of weeks before the season after Andrew Luck's sudden retirement, got off to a great start, throwing 12 touchdowns and just one interception through Week 8 as the Colts started 5-2.

However, since then, his play has dropped off considerably, as he has thrown just four touchdowns and three picks over his last six games. He also missed a game with an MCL sprain.

To be fair to Brissett, Indianapolis' offense has been ravaged by injuries this season, with receivers T.Y. Hilton, Devin Funchess and Parris Campbell all being out and tight end Eric Ebron being on injured reserve.

Perhaps not so coincidentally, Brissett's slide coincided with the injuries, so it's only right to stick with him over the last two games of the 2019 campaign.

The Colts are now 6-8 on the year and have been eliminated from playoff contention.
