For the second time in the space of a week, the Indianapolis Colts have announced the hiring of a new head coach. But unlike Josh McDaniels, Frank Reich doesn’t appear to have any second thoughts about returning to his old job as the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator.

However, some Colts fans remained unconvinced that the Reich hiring was really legit. One fan tried to troll the team by asking for Reich to hold up a copy of the day’s newspaper as proof. Hilariously, Reich and Colts owner Jim Irsay trolled right back as they obliged with that request.

After the stunning situation with McDaniels and his 11th hour U-turn, Colts fans have every right to be a bit dubious about those types of proclamations moving forward. Thankfully, the Colts’ Twitter account, not to mention Reich and Irsay, had a nice sense of humor as they granted that one fan’s request.

But now that Reich has officially taken the job and the team has had a little self-deprecating fun, it’s soon time to get to the serious business of turning this Colts team around. Reich will have his hands full in terms of improving a team which didn’t do hardly anything particularly well last season on either side of the ball.

However, the improvement on offense will depend largely upon the health of quarterback Andrew Luck. The franchise quarterback remains unable to throw as he continues to work his way back from shoulder surgery. If he does return, Reich will have even more reason to be as happy as he looks holding up that newspaper.
