The Indianapolis Colts have gone ahead and improved their pass rush for 2019. They have signed Justin Houston—who was cut by the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this offseason.

This news comes according to Adam Schefter via Twitter. The deal is reportedly a two-year, $24 million deal for the eight-year veteran.

The signing shouldn't come as a surprise as the Colts need help in the sack department. In 2018, the Colts only had 38 sacks throughout the course of the season.

Houston was part of a Chiefs defense that led the NFL with 52 sacks in 2018. Individually, Houston accounted for nine of those himself.

In addition, the Colts GM in Chris Ballard has experience with dealing with Houston. Ballard was the Chiefs Director of Player Personel and Director of Football Operations from 2013-2016.

After that, Ballard became the GM of the Colts in 2017 and helped turn around a franchise that had tons of question marks. The main question mark was Andrew Luck's health but Luck put that to rest with an impressive 2018 season.

Now, things are looking up heading into the 2019 season with the addition of Houston for the defense. The Colts lacked a formidable pass rusher in 2018, with Denico Autry leading the team with nine sacks.

We are five years removed from the 2014 season, where we saw the former Chiefs pass rusher rack up 22 sacks. Due to injuries, he has been unable to stay on the field in the past few seasons.

Since 2015, Houston has missed 21 games due to multiple injuries.

If Houston is able to maintain his health, the Colts will have gotten a steal in the talented edge-rusher.
