Indianapolis Colts safety Malik Hooker's season might have reached an early conclusion on Sunday in Indianapolis.

Hooker left the game with an Achilles injury, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the team fears Hooker tore the Achilles. Rapoport noted the team will conduct further testing on Monday.

This is a bad blow for the Colts and Hooker, the former first-round draft pick out of Ohio State.

The 24-year-old has a pretty lengthy injury history. He played seven games in his rookie season before suffering a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee. Hooker made a full recovery for the 2018 season, but he missed a pair of games due to a hip problem, and also sat out Indy's playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs because of a foot injury.

Hooker had another major knee injury last season, this time tearing his left meniscus. Now, he faces yet another uphill climb if he indeed has suffered a torn Achilles.

Moreover, the injury might impact Hooker's future with the team.

Indianapolis decided not to pick up Hooker's fifth-year option for the 2021 season, making him a free agent next spring. It is certainly possible the Colts look to re-sign Hooker, though the injury clouds his future with the franchise.

In any case, the Colts will have to make some adjustments in the secondary. It remains to be seen who will slot into Hooker's spot at the free safety position, though it is possible Kenny Moore could slide over from the cornerback spot.
