Marlon Mack of the Indianapolis Colts has to feel really good about the team's offseason because they didn't sign a guy to replace him. As Stephen Holder of The Athletic points out with the team's moves this offseason they gave a huge vote of confidence to Mack that he can be their running back of the future.

If Mack’s place on this team wasn’t clear before, it certainly is now. This entire offseason was a huge organizational vote of confidence for the young running back.

Going into the offseason the Colts were one of the favorites to land Le'Veon Bell and if they missed on him, many believed they would be active finding someone else to at least compete for the starting job.

Instead, the Colts did the exact opposite and the only player they signed was Spencer Ware who is on a one year deal for $1.3 million. His deal includes only $125,000 in guarantees so it's not a sure thing he will even make the roster.

This seems to be a guy who was brought in to be the backup to Mack, rather than a guy who will compete for the starting job. Last season Mack rushed 195 times for 908 yards and nine touchdowns. That was a big jump from 2017 when he had only 358 yards, and three touchdowns.

Now the job for Mack is to prove the Colts right with their confidence in him.

If he can build on his 2018 season the Colts will be very happy with their decision.
