Although he was not initially pegged for the job, Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich has received a tremendous amount of praise for his recent hiring. Among his former players to offer their full-fledged support is Pat McAfee.

The former punter spent a few seasons with Reich in Indianapolis from 2009-2011. Needless to say, McAfee expressed nothing but the utmost confidence in the Colts new head coach during an appearance on PFT Live:

“Frank Reich literally was teaching an elementary student’s brain to me. The way he laid everything down. He was just so upbeat. He’s just a guy that we loved being around. We loved his aura, his sense of calmness that he had. That was way before he’s had these opportunities to go and learn from other places. If he can bring any of the magic that that Philadelphia Eagles’ locker room had into the Colts’ locker room I am very excited to make the Colts great again and this entire city to be die-hard Colts’ fans all over again.”

Reich enjoyed a successful tenure with the Colts before making his coaching rounds throughout the league. He endured stints with the Arizona Cardinals and San Diego Chargers before finally helping to put together a championship run with the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2017 NFL season.

McAfee is not the only former Colt to acknowledge Reich's coaching prowess. A story recently resurfaced where NFL legend Peyton Manning commended his then-quarterbacks coach for helping with his progression. Manning was even able to defend his MVP crown in Reich's first season on the job.

That said, rebuilding the Colts franchise will be no easy task amidst their recent mediocrity. His first order of business will be to get quarterback Andrew Luck back on track as one of the league's most promising talents.
