Indianapolis Colts QB Philip Rivers might not have dreams of quarterbacking until he is 45 years old. But for now, he feels he has enough gas left in the tank to help a team win a Super Bowl.

The longtime Los Angeles Chargers quarterback will start a new period in his career after signing a one-year deal with the Colts in free agency. Rivers said that he will keep playing as long as his body feels good and he is compelled to give it a shot.

“I take it one year at a time,” he said. “If I feel good, I'll keep going. I don't want to get carried away. You won't see me in the Tom Brady [age] range. I still feel like I can help a football team go win a championship.”

Not only has Rivers never won a Super Bowl, but he has yet to even reach the Big Game.

The 38-year-old went through a frustrating season with the Chargers last year. Los Angeles dealt with a number of injuries on the offensive line. And Rivers–despite throwing for over 4,600 yards–threw 20 interceptions as the Bolts stumbled to a 5-11 record.

However, the Colts present Rivers with an interesting opportunity to jump back into contention.

Indianapolis has one of the best offensive lines in football. It's a unit they kept intact when they re-signed left tackle Anthony Castonzo. They also have a strong running game with Marlon Mack in the backfield.

Moreover, the Colts made a splash by trading for (and then extending) former San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle DeForest Buckner in an effort to shore up the front four.

Colts general manager Chris Ballard is hoping the team will have the right ingredients to help Rivers succeed. This might result in a deep playoff run if the veteran signal-caller is in good form.
