It has been a brutal few days for the Indianapolis Colts. New quarterback Carson Wentz is out 5-12 weeks after undergoing foot surgery, and now All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson is also going to miss that same amount of time due to the same exact surgery, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

This is no way to start training camp if you're the Colts. It's good that these aren't season-ending injuries, but losing these key pieces for potentially up to three months is a horrific setback to start the 2021 season.

Indianapolis was counting on a bounce-back season from Wentz after he was awful last season for the Philadelphia Eagles. The Colts acquired him in a trade to replace the retired Philip Rivers, but now he's out for an extended period of time.

Plus, now one of the most important cogs of the offensive line is also going to miss time. While these two players have the same timetable as of right now, there are no guarantees they come back together at the same moment. Indy can only hope these two players return at the early end of the timeline.

Otherwise, the Colts could be in some real trouble. The backup quarterbacks are Jacob Eason, Brett Hundley and Sam Ehlinger. Perhaps the franchise tries to work out a trade for a more proven veteran like Nick Foles, who Monday sounded like a player who would be open to it.
