Indianapolis Colts were hardly understanding when it came to quarterback Andrew Luck's decision to retire. It is safe to say that center Ryan Kelly was not pleased with it.

Fans rained boos down on Luck after his retirement became known during their penultimate preseason matchup with the Chicago Bears. According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Kelly did not mince words on the topic:

Colts C Ryan Kelly on the fans booing Andrew Luck: “I thought it was bullshit, simple as that.”

Luck has undoubtedly caught plenty of flak for his decision to retire so suddenly. Although the move saw some mixed reviews from the masses. the support from his teammates has been unwavering. A number of his teammates and those within the organization has voiced their public support for him and wish him nothing but the best outside of football.

It is telling that the ones that have come to his defense are the teammates he is closest to on the field. Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton wasted no time in thanking Luck for helping him emerge into a bonafide No. 1 option in the passing game.

Meanwhile, Kelly has been protecting him ever since he was taken with the 18th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. It seems his protection has now extended off the field as well.

Luck's retirement is undoubtedly one of the most perplexing cases in NFL history and his absence will leave a notable void in the Colts' franchise.

Regardless, Kelly is among those that hope to expect better from their fans at times like these.
