The Indianapolis Colts are seemingly on the cusp of being eliminated from playoff contention heading into Week 15. Regardless, wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is still holding out hope for a looming return.

Hilton continues to deal with a lingering calf injury that has raised questions about whether or not he will be able to play again in the 2019 NFL season. He is adamant about coming back over these next three games, via Mike Wells of ESPN:

“I would never quit on my team,” Hilton said. “I signed up for 16 games. Some guys may shut it down and call it quits. I don’t do that.”

The fact that Hilton is so adamant about playing again this season is certainly a positive. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen if he will be able to follow through given the current situation in Indianapolis.

Hilton has missed five out of the last six games while nursing the injured calf. Although he attempted to make his return in Week 12 versus the Houston Texans, he only logged in three catches for 18 yards before he was sidelined once again. While he has admitted to feeling better than he did last week, the prospect of him being able to play on the road versus the New Orleans Saints is still far-fetched at this point.

As encouraging as it is to see Hilton display his toughness, there will be little reason for him to risk further aggravating the injury if the Colts are officially removed from the playoff picture in the coming weeks.
