Indianapolis Colts star wide receiver T.Y. Hilton has missed the last two straight games due to nagging hamstring issues that have kept him out of the lineup.

Hilton appears to be making some progress toward making his return to the field as he will test his hamstring in Wednesday's practice to see where he physically stands at this point in the recovery, according to Stephen Holder of The Athletic.

Hilton may still be a long way from getting back into the fold, but this is certainly a step in the right direction. The fact that he is able to test it out is a telling sign of how close he may be toward being able to get passed those bothersome issues. It is a type of injury that could continue to linger on if not handled properly, which is something that Hilton and the Colts may be factoring into the equation.

In his absence, the team has leaned more heavily upon offseason acquisition Eric Ebron being a primary target in the passing game as he has notched at least four receptions for 40 receiving yards, and a touchdown. Ebron has proven to be a highly reliable asset in the red zone.

Meanwhile, wide receiver Chester Rodgers has stepped up with his production with three straight games with at least four catches for 55 receiving yards in each contest. This saw him record four receptions for 55 receiving yards and a touchdown against the New York Jets last Sunday.

Prior to the injury, Hilton has been off to a strong start to the year with 21 catches for 294 receiving yards and two touchdowns through the first four games. He is on pace for 56 catches for 784 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He had his best performance of the season in his last game before the injury recording four catches for a season-high 115 receiving yards against the Houston Texans.
