The Indianapolis Colts are preparing for their third showdown of the 2018 NFL season against the Houston Texans. It appears that's more than enough motivation for wide receiver T.Y. Hilton to play.
Hilton has been battling a lingering ankle injury. According to Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan, he credits his recovery to this week's matchup with the Texans:
“That’s probably why it’s starting to feel better,” Hilton said.
Head coach Frank Reich added that they are willing to have him play at whatever capacity he can handle.
“Even him limited, we want him out there,” Reich said. “He’s willing to do that. It is that much more important to spread it around get everyone involved, and then get him involved at strategic times when we need him to make plays for us.”
This is certainly an encouraging update for the Colts. He has been limited at practice while dealing with the injury over the last three weeks. It is safe to assume that Indianapolis will give him as much as rest possible leading up to their showdown with Houston.
Although Hilton has been hobbled, it has not slowed his production during game time. He has registered 14 catches on 22 targets for 284 yards over the last three games. He will undoubtedly need to see a high volume of targets once again if the Colts are going to have success through the air against the Texans.
Indianapolis is going to need all the help they can get. The last two meetings with Houston were each decided by a field goal. His playing time could be a huge factor in the outcome of this game.
