Jacoby Brissett has not exactly made a splash during his time with the Indianapolis Colts. Nonetheless, despite serving as a backup QB for the most part of his five-year NFL career, Jacoby still figures to be one of the hottest targets in the upcoming offseason.

This report comes via Dan Pompei of The Athletic, who believes that Brissett might just pique the interest of a few teams:

Brissett may not be the quarterback that most teams hope for, but he could be one of the most appealing available options. He has been a backup for three of his five seasons, but he’s backed up Tom Brady, Andrew Luck, and Rivers. The front-office people believe he has a chance to improve.

Brissett has not proven that he can be a franchise quarterback, but as the report above states, he is still widely considered a valuable asset in the league. So much so, that the Colts might just find themselves with some competition once Brissett becomes a free agent in the offseason.

An unnamed pro personnel director described what other teams might see in Brissett that could push them to trade for the former North Carolina State standout:

“He can keep you afloat while you let a young guy learn,” said the anonymous source. “You can play winning football with him because he has good leadership traits and game experience. I like him, and he deserves another shot.”

Previous reports state that the Colts are looking to extend Jacoby Brissett in the offseason, as they consider him a pivotal part of their squad. Indianapolis may need to put their money where their mouth is, with other teams also in the market for Brissett, who's said before he'll be a starter again one day.
