Conor McGregor was ready to ruin Machine Gun Kelly's 2021 MTV VMA experience on Sunday night as the former UFC champion threw a punch after an apparent verbal altercation. And you know what sparked the confrontation? A denied selfie, apparently.

McGregor, who somehow always finds himself in these types of scenarios, has now added MGK to his growing list of frenemies and, if security hadn't stepped in, things would have gotten ugly. Here's a video of the incident on the VMA red carpet (via TWSN):

According to a report from TMZ, McGregor was the one who approached MGK and his girlfriend Megan Fox. Apparently, all McGregor intended was to simply say hello and possibly take a photo. For some reason, MGK denied the photo and after a few inaudible remarks from both sides, things got a bit unruly which eventually resulted in McGregor throwing (and eventually missing) a punch as well as his drink towards Kelly and Fox. It was also reported that MGK was the first one who nudged McGregor.

Fortunately, security made sure nothing too bad happened and were able to escort MGK and Fox away from the altercation while making sure Conor was contained as well. Both parties seemed to have calmed down as they all made it inside the Barclays Center in one piece.

In an attempt to downplay the incident, a representative from McGregor's camp told PageSix that “Conor only fights fighters.”
