Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal has blasted the NCAA for taking too long to postpone the tournaments due to the  coronavirus.

Via Twitter, Beal tagged the NCAA's seemingly late decision to call off the tourney a “damn shame.”

The NCAA is one of the latest sports league to cancel the remainder of the season. On Wednesday, the NBA quickly canceled the remaining two games and the entire 2019-20 season when Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement on Thursday, the NCAA said:

“Today, NCAA president Mark Emmert and the board of governors canceled the Division I men's and women's 2020 basketball tournaments, as well as all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships,” the NCAA announced. “This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to the spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decision by other entities.”

Initially, the NCAA front office announced that it would push through with the tourney. However, they wouldn't allow the general public to attend the games.

The postponement would cover all NCAA championships in the winter and spring. That includes the women's basketball tournament, College World Series, Women's College World Series and NCAA wrestling championships, among others.

Beal's followers on Twitter echoed his sentiments, stating that all that the NCAA cares about is the money. In the past few years, the league has been involved in corruption allegations. There have also been whispers that the NCAA, being the big business that it is, should pay its athletes.
