Due to the film’s success, it spawned sequels Scream 2 (1997), Scream 3 (2000), and Scream 4 (2011) — in which Cox reprised her role.

A fifth installment in the film series will premier on January 14, 2022, and it will simply be titled “Scream”. Courteney Cox will reprise her role as Gale Weathers.
