The Dallas Cowboys are entering the 2021 season after a disappointing 2020 campaign.  They went 6-10 and had one of the worst defenses in the league. Star quarterback Dak Prescott went down with a season-ending right ankle injury in week 5, which was detrimental to the team.

The Cowboys are bound to have a better season in 2021 after a good offseason. They added great young talent in the draft that will help them compete this season. While the Cowboys have great talent, there are always cut candidates on the roster.

Here are 3 cut candidates on the Cowboys' roster bubble entering 2021 training camp.

3. Quarterback Ben DiNucci

Cowboys, Dak Prescott, Ben DiNucci

One of the fan favorites last season was Ben DiNucci. Although he was a fan favorite, DiNucci didn't perform well in the 2 games he played. He was the 3rd or 4th string quarterback last season and only played due to injuries. DiNucci acknowledged his struggles when he said “Obviously, I played in two games last year, but I feel like that wasn’t me out there.”

In these games, he threw for 219 yards with 0 touchdowns and interceptions. He also had a poor completion percentage at 53.5 percent. DiNucci will need to show improvement in training camp to make the roster. He will be competing with Garrett Gilbert and Cooper Rush for a roster spot.

If DiNucci can improve his accuracy and completion percentage, he has a shot at making the roster.

2. Wide receiver Noah Brown

The Cowboys have one of the best-receiving cores in the league, which makes it difficult to make the roster. Noah Brown was a 7th round pick by the Cowboys back in 2017 and has been a solid depth player. Brown had his best season in 2020, finishing with 14 receptions for 154 yards. While it was his best season, these still aren't great numbers.

He will have a tough road ahead to make the roster. The wide receiver core includes Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, CeeDee Lamb, and Cedrick Wilson. These 4 players are locks for the roster and make it tough for Brown unless he improves drastically.

Brown will need to become more consistent throughout training camp to make the roster.

1. Defensive tackle Trysten Hill

Trysten Hill, Dak Prescott, Cowboys

Trysten Hill is projected to be the 2nd string defensive tackle but could be cut. He was considered a reach when he was drafted a few years ago and hasn't lived up to his potential. Hill's talent is there but hasn't put it to good use in the league.

Hill has only played in 12 games in his career, where he has posted 16 tackles and 0 sacks. Although Hill has raw talent, he hasn't been able to become a consistent player. If he is unable to improve, don't be surprised to see the Cowboys move on from him.

The Cowboys 2021 preview

The Cowboys are bound to improve off of their 2020 season with star quarterback, Prescott coming back along with new talent. Their first-round pick Micah Parsons is projected to have a great rookie season. Parsons is a versatile linebacker with elite athleticism.

He can play man coverage with the best of them as well as being a great tackler. Parsons has the unique ability to be able to keep up with running backs and wide receivers. He ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash which shows his elite-level speed. Although many rookies struggle in their rookie season, Parsons seems ready to make an instant impact.

A new and improved defense should help the Cowboys make a playoff push this season. The offense will be near the top of the league with Prescott back in action.

Look for the Cowboys to make a run at the playoffs this season behind a new defense.
