Looking ahead to the upcoming 2020 NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys are going to be an intriguing team to watch. The franchise has seen many changes, starting with head coach Jason Garrett being allowed to walk. To replace him, Jerry Jones and company brought in former Green Bay Packers head coach and Super Bowl winner Mike McCarthy.

Dallas also made quite a few moves this offseason in free agency. They re-signed star wide receiver Amari Cooper to a massive five-year deal, worth $100 million. Getting him locked up was a major priority and they are ecstatic that they got the job done.

Other moves that the Cowboys made were the additions of defensive tackles Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe. They also brought in free agent safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, who has had a successful NFL career with the Packers, Washington Redskins and Chicago Bears. Add in the addition of veteran kicker Greg Zuerlein and the Cowboys had a big offseason.

A move that they were expected to make but did not end up getting done was an extension for franchise quarterback Dak Prescott. Instead, they placed the franchise tag on him and are hoping to keep him happy and work out a deal in the future.

Many believe that they are playing with fire by not extending Prescott, but the Cowboys have made their decision. They are hoping that they can put together a winning season that ends with a run in the playoffs. Dallas is expected to be one of the Super Bowl contenders in the NFC, although that remains to be seen with all the new faces and how well they click together.

All of that being said, let's take a closer look at Prescott himself. Here are three early predictions for the Cowboys' quarterback in 2020.

3. He ends up with over 5,000 passing yards

Last season, the Cowboys saw Prescott end up with an impressive 4,902 passing yards. It was a number that came out of the blue and showed that he is more than capable of being a Super Bowl-caliber quarterback. Dallas should be expecting that number to rise a bit in 2020.

It's not hard to presume that Prescott will throw for 5,000 yards this season. He has an improved wide receiver group with first-round draft pick CeeDee Lamb added into the mix. Lamb, Cooper and Michael Gallup are going to be difficult for opposing defenses to stop.

Dallas has everything put together offensively and it should be fun to watch them work.

2. Prescott leads the Cowboys to the playoffs and an NFC East title

Next up, the Cowboys still have a bad taste in their mouths from the way the 2019 season ended. All season long, they were expected to win their division and make a trip to the playoffs. A late-season collapse stole that from them and the Philadelphia Eagles ended up coming back to win the NFC East and knocking the Cowboys out of the postseason picture.

In 2020, Prescott and company are not going to allow that to happen. He will lead the Cowboys to a strong regular season and will make the playoffs along with Dallas claiming the NFC East division title.

1. Dak Prescott is a top-three MVP candidate

Finally, the MVP chants will roar in Dallas for Prescott this season. He was being talked about as an MVP candidate last year, but was unable to maintain the hot play that he displayed earlier in the year.

Dallas added pieces that will help Prescott finish in the top-three for MVP voting. He may not end up winning the award, but he is going to be in the conversation. Going up against fellow quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson is never an easy task.

Even with that being the case, Prescott is going to prove once again that he is worth the money he is demanding. Dallas will have a big decision to make after the season and should open up their checkbook to keep him around long-term.
