Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Allen Hurns had surgery Saturday night on his left ankle after suffering a devastating injury in the first quarter of their 24-22 wild-card win against the Seattle Seahawks, owner and general manager Jerry Jones said per Todd Archer of ESPN.

But  despite the gruesome nature of his injury, Hurns is expected to be ready to return by August barring complications according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Hurns suffered the injury after his leg was twisted up as he was tackled by Seahawks safety Bradley McDougald. Hurns’ left foot was left pointing up after the tackle and was immediately tended to by the Cowboys' medical staff.

“It's terrible, man,” Cowboys receiver Cole Beasley said. “You never want to see an injury like that to any of your brothers out there. It's unfortunate. I feel for him, and I just hope he's in good spirits. I'm sure he's got a lot on his mind. It sucks, man. That's never a good feeling.”

Hurns caught 20 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns in the regular season after signing a two-year contract with the Cowboys as a free agent in the offseason.

The Cowboys will have to make do without Hurns for the remainder of their postseason run. They still have the likes of Amari Cooper, Cole Beasley, Michael Gallup, and Tavon Austin to call upon as receiving targets for Dak Prescott.

Prescott had a steady game with 226 yards passing with a passing and rushing touchdown as well as an interception. However, the Cowboys' rushing game continued to carry the team's offense. Ezekiel Elliott had 137 of the team's 164 rushing yards.
