Do yourself a favor: don't ask Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper if he imagines playing with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. It won't go over very well.
When the question was posted to Cooper during an interview with NESN, this is what the 25-year-old wide out had to say:
“No,” Cooper said. “I don't want to play with Tom Brady. I want to beat Tom Brady. I want to play with Dak Prescott. And I believe that we can get the job done.”
Cooper also went on to rave about Dak Prescott when asked if the Cowboys' signal-caller was a franchise quarterback:
“Of course,” he responded. “You don't see that? He's a winner. I love Dak. He's a born-leader from what I can see. He's going to put it all on the line. In all the close games we had this year, he was the one making those big plays, leading us to victory. I just like everything about Dak.”
So, needless to say, Cooper does not have a “if you can't beat 'em, join 'em” mentality, which is certainly refreshing in today's sports world.
Cooper joined the Cowboys in the middle of the 2018 campaign after coming over in a trade with the Oakland Raiders. In nine games with Dallas, the receiver hauled in 53 receptions for 725 yards and six touchdowns.
On the season overall, Cooper caught 75 passes for 1,005 yards and seven scores en route to his third Pro Bowl appearance.
The Cowboys were eliminated by the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
