Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Amari Cooper have kicked off the 2019 NFL season as one of the most formidable passing duos in the league. It seems Cooper is hardly surprised by the production they have enjoyed together so far.

Cooper emerged as a safety net for Prescott as soon as he arrived during the 2018 campaign. According to Jori Epstein of USA Today, he attributed their success to a natural chemistry that they have shared since Day One:

“It's like when you put certain foods together, when you put ketchup on a burger. It just tastes good together.

“I would just say we mesh well together.”

The Cowboys made quite the investment when they pulled the trigger on a blockbuster deal that brought Cooper over from the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a first-round pick. It did not take long for him to provide them with some immediate return by emerging as Prescott's favorite target in the passing game.

Cooper registered 53 receptions for 725 yards and six touchdowns in nine games with the Cowboys. He and Prescott have now picked up where they left off by connecting 10 times for 150 yards and two touchdowns through the first two games of the season. They are hoping that their chemistry will continue to pay off for them both on and off the field.

The Cowboys' brass has done plenty of spending this offseason in an effort to secure their key pieces for the long haul. Although most of the headlines have been surrounding Prescott's looming extension, the matter of Cooper's new deal has seemingly flown under the radar.

The longer Dallas waits, the more time he has to gauge the lucrative contracts that were recently signed by New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas and Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones.
