The Dallas Cowboys needed a miracle to try and pull level with the Seattle Seahawks at the end of last Sunday's game, with Dak Prescott looking to find any of his receivers in the end zone.

Only, rookie wideout CeeDee Lamb was not on the field for the final play.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy explained Lamb's heavy workload was part of the reason he was absent in the final moments.

“He’s clearly 1-2 at the top the number of plays and how much work he’s done,” McCarthy said, per ESPN’s Todd Archer. “I think he’s a little affected in the game front workload too … This is the first time we went with 10 personnel, four wide receivers into the game. Those guys are playing a lot of reps.”

Lamb had previously taken a shot during a punt return earlier in the game, but it seems that was not a concern for McCarthy.

Rather, the Cowboys head coach is still figuring out how best to use his personnel while trying to keep Lamb fresh.

Dallas has one of the deeper receiving groups in the league, with Lamb joining a pair of 1,000-yard receivers in Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup.

The former Oklahoma standout has been tremendous through the first three games, with 16 receptions for 230 yards. Lamb has also been used on gadget plays while taking over as the team's punt returner. Naturally, this means he has had a generally higher usage than some of Dallas' other receivers.

Lamb might not have been on the field at the end of Week 3, but it is clear McCarthy and the Cowboys still view him as a top playmaker.
