After the Dallas Cowboys drafted CeeDee Lamb with the 17th overall selection of the 2020 NFL Draft, they offered him two jersey number options: No. 88 and N0. 10.

Given the history of prominent players that wore No. 88 in Cowboys history, Lamb naturally chose No. 10.

“I had the option of picking 10 or 88, and I picked 10,” Lamb said of his initial instincts during a Thursday interview with “GBag Nation” on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM].

However, after meeting with Michael Irvin, a Hall of Fame receiver that wore No. 88 with the Cowboys, Lamb changed his mind and decided to choose No. 88.

“We talked about the tradition and the respect I had for him and that number,” Lamb said on 105.3 The Fan. “Not about any pressure, but how much of an edge he’s giving me by wearing that number. No matter where I look, when I see myself, I’m going to see 88. It’s going to always remind me of who wore it before me.”

Dez Bryant, who also wore No. 88 during his tenure with the Cowboys, gave the blessing for Lamb to wear No. 88. Nevertheless, it's evident that Bryant and Irvin see high potential in the rookie. Lamb played phenomenal in his collegiate career at Oklahoma, recording 163 catches for 3,292 yards and 32 touchdowns.

However, there's a possibility he may not be getting the same amount of touches as he was at Oklahoma, considering the circumstances that'll he'll be playing on the same offense as two other standout receivers in Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup. Nevertheless, Lamb is bound to have a great rookie season.
