Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has received an outpouring of messages of support since suffering a gruesome ankle injury in the Cowboys’ 37-34 win over the New York Giants, from fellow athletes to fans to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

One athlete who took to social media to show support for the 27-year old quarterback is Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward. Hayward is one of the few people who knows what the Cowboys quarterback is going through, as he suffered a similar injury himself a few years ago.

On October 17, 2017, in his first game for the Celtics, Gordon Hayward suffered a fractured tibia and dislocated ankle in his left leg, which took him a year to recover from. The road to recovery was long, and Hayward knows that talking to others who had a similar experience helps, which is why he was reaching out to Prescott.

In his tweet, the 30-year old mentioned that having Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George to talk to helped in his recovery from the injury. George also suffered a similar injury during a Team USA scrimmage years ago, which was diagnosed as an open tibia fibula fracture. When Gordon Hayward went down with the injury, George was one of the first athletes who tweeted his support. He's obviously trying to do the same for the Cowboys star.

Dak Prescott, who successfully  underwent surgery to repair the fracture and dislocation of his right ankle, now begins a long road to recovery similar to the one that Hayward and George had before him. But as Hayward said, hearing from other people who went through a similar experience will certainly help, and the Cowboys’ signal-caller will definitely have that in him.
