Free-agent safety Clayton Geathers is visiting with the Dallas Cowboys on Monday, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

Geathers spent the 2018 campaign with the Indianapolis Colts, starting all 12 games in which he played and registering 89 tackles and a forced fumble as one of the team captains.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Central Florida, was originally selected by the Colts in the fourth round (109th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 15 contests during his rookie season, making two starts. During that time, he recorded 28 tackles and a fumble recovery. Then, the following season, Geathers was limited to just nine games due to a neck injury, but he started all nine games in which he participated, finishing with 58 tackles, a forced fumble and five passes defended.

The Georgetown, S.C. native proceeded to undergo neck surgery to repair his injury that ensuing offseason, and, as a result, he played in just five games in 2017, totaling eight tackles.

The Cowboys are coming off of a 2018 campaign in which they won 10 games and captured the NFC East division title, marking their third division crown since 2014. They then went on to defeat the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs before falling to the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round the following week.

In spite of the fact that Dallas is one of the most renowned franchises in football, it has won just three playoff games since 1997 and has not made it past the Divisional Round since last winning the Super Bowl during the 1995-96 season.
