Cole Beasley is just two years removed as the Dallas Cowboys leading receiver, but last year was a trying one. He finished the season catching only 36 passes for 314 yards.

Everyone was expecting big things from one of the fan favorites and no one was more disappointed in Beasley's play than himself.

“It was very frustrating, man,” Beasley said via Pro Football Talk. “No one wants to have a good year and come back and have the worst year of their career. It was definitely frustrating. A lot of things I had to fight through, but I feel like that season has made me better today because of it.”

Beasley has a lot to play for this season in terms of an individual perspective. He also will be an unrestricted free agent after this season so he is also playing for his next contract and potentially a nice payday.

Beasley fully realizes how important this season is and expects that he will be able to bounce back.

“I don’t see why not,” Beasley said. “I’ve been working as hard as ever. I think last season was a good thing for all of us. It added like a hunger to our group. A lot of people pushed us to the side this offseason and they’re sleeping on us, but that gives us a chance to prove a lot of people wrong.”

Since coming into the league, Beasley has been employed as a tremendous slot receiver, but the Cowboys are trying to expand his route tree. With Dez Bryant gone, it's going to be even more important that Beasley has a big season.
