Dak knows Zeke. The quarterback understands his running back. Though Ezekiel Elliott's early NFL career has been pretty solid, the 2017 season hit him upside the head, and Dak Prescott understands it.

Prescott maintains faith in his teammate and uses the term “roller coaster” with Zeke's season, via ESPN's Todd Archer.

“The emotional roller-coaster he was going through last year — ‘Was he playing?' ‘Was he not playing?' — and then to have the game taken away from him for the time he did, it takes a toll,” Prescott said this week. “It takes a toll on anybody that cares and loves what they do. And not only that, loves their teammates and the organization they play for. So just having that freedom, coming in this year, being able to work and knowing he's going to have every game ahead of him is going to do wonders for him. He's been great out here at OTAs, being a great leader, showing guys the way to practice and the way to run.”

Elliott, 22, hit the ground running after his fourth overall draft-pick status circa the 2016 NFL Draft. His 1,631 yards and 15 scores on the ground including another 363 yards and one score on 32 grabs through the air earned him First-Team All-Pro honors two years ago.

Twenty-seventeen, obviously, was a completely different story.

Elliott was suspended for six games and, as his quarterback explains, he was overwhelmed by such uncertainty surrounding his season. All told, Elliott rushed for 983 yards and seven touchdowns in 10 games.

Both Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott hope 2018 brings much more certainty and success.
