Contract extension talks involving Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott are moving along just fine.

This was what Cowboys owner and general manager told David Moore of the Dallas Morning News (via Pro Football Talk's Charean Williams) on May 23.

Dak Prescott revealed Wednesday that the Cowboys and his agent have exchanged contract proposals. The Cowboys quarterback, though, wouldn't put a time frame for getting a deal done.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones remains confident the sides will hammer out a long-term deal, but he also gave no indication of how close they are.

We never really know where we are with anybody until we get one done, but we're moving along satisfactorily with all of our contract negotiations.

Prescott confirmed to Williams his agent gave the Cowboys a counter offer on May 22. He is entering the final year of his rookie contract which will pay him $2.025 million in 2019.

Williams foresees Prescott earning an annual salary of $25 million or so once the two sides hammer out an extension. It isn't hard to imagine Prescott earning $30 million yearly. That much would put him at par with the Atlanta Falcons' Matt Ryan.

The 25-year-old Prescott told Pro Football Focus on Wednesday he's focusing on improving his game so the contract situation plays itself out.

“As I've said before, I've got a great team in place to handle that,” Prescott told Williams. “It will get done eventually.”
