If this Sunday doesn't go the Dallas Cowboys' way, the 2019 season will end. Subsequently, the era of head coach Jason Garrett could follow.

If the Cowboys don't make the postseason, Garrett could follow them out of the front door. His contract is expiring. As the head coach of one of the storied franchise's most disappointing teams ever, it doesn't seem as if he will earn his job back if the Cowboys don't at least make a run in the playoffs. Not making the postseason altogether would be a deathblow to his chances of sticking around.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has had one head coach in his four-year NFL career, with that coach obviously being Garrett. He won't see a peep on his job status.

When asked about his thoughts on Sunday against the Washington Redskins being Garrett's last game with Dallas, Prescott said, via Jane Slater of the NFL Network:

“I think its the last game on mine as well so I’ll be damned if I speak on anyone else’s future or their place.”

Sunday's game against Washington is Prescott's last regular-season outing on his rookie contract. He will be a free agent in March if Dallas does not extend him.

For the Cowboys to get in the postseason, they would need a win over Washington to hit 8-8. They would also need the New York Giants to beat the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, who currently hold the top rank in the NFC East.

Garrett has won two playoff games in his 10 seasons as head coach, compiling an 84-67 regular season record in the process.
