The injury-riddled 2017 NFL season continues with its latest casualty being Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. The former second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft suffered a torn ACL in Week 14 and will undoubtedly miss the rest of the year.

Since then, players from around the league have offered up their support for Wentz, much like they have for all the other notable players that have succumbed to season-ending injuries. Among them has been Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

From John Machota of the Dallas Morning News:

“Just saddened by the news obviously. A great player, a great future ahead of him. I know the type of person he is, the type of player he is, he’s going to bounce back and he’ll use it to make him a stronger player.”

The two promising, young quarterbacks have been intertwined since entering the league in the same draft class. Furthermore, they have gotten awfully familiar over the past two seasons as division rivals.

Both signal-callers possess awfully similar skill sets in terms of being a dual threat QB. However, Wentz' injury has raised some concerns as to whether or not Prescott will use it as a cautionary tale moving forward — which the latter has vehemently since denied. That said, it is clear that there is a great amount of mutual respect between the two as competitors.

Maybe Eagles and Cowboys fans won't like it, but it appears the rivalry between the two stop when one quarterback goes down and the other feels awful for him. Not that it shouldn't be that way, but it will be interesting to see if Dak Prescott gets any backlash from die-hard fans for his support of Carson Wentz.

I mean, he shouldn't, but you never know.
