The Dallas Cowboys made their decision official on Friday morning to part ways with star wide receiver Dez Bryant after eight seasons. It has seen the franchise move on from one of their primary offensive talents and top receiving option.

In wake of the move, there had yet to be any response from third-year quarterback Dak Prescott about the move. According to Todd Archer of ESPN, Prescott voiced much disappointment that the team has decided to part ways with Bryant calling him a “hard guy to replace.”

“Dez is going to be a hard guy to replace,” Prescott said. “He's a talented guy, so he'll be missed.”

Although Bryant had struggled to produce at an elite level in his two campaigns with Prescott, he had been the unquestioned top target in the passing game. He is one of the game's most proven players at his position that is a legitimate red zone threat.

Through his time together with Bryant, Prescott has held the 29-year-old in high-esteem for what he brought to the table for Dallas. He had been one of the pillars that the team leaned upon heavily for production through his first eight years in the league with the team where he finished ranked third in team history with 531 receptions and fifth with 7,459 receiving yards.

With the Cowboys deciding to move on from Bryant, it will push Prescott to involve another wide receiver in a more prominent that may see offseason addition Allen Hurns grab that role. Hurns is just two seasons removed from his breakout campaign where he registered 64 catches for 1,031 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Meanwhile, it could mean a larger role for Terrance Williams, Cole Beasley, and possibly Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten.

Nonetheless, Bryant leaves a sizable hole in the passing game that will noticeable next season as the Cowboys look to find other options to replace him that could extend through possibly acquiring a promising talent through the draft.
