Back in 2016, the Dallas Cowboys brought in a promising young rookie quarterback in the form of Dak Prescott to back up the team's star under center, Tony Romo. Prescott ended up being thrust into the spotlight much earlier than anticipated with Romo going down and played so well he never lost the starting job.

After two seasons as the team's starter, Prescott has set up a bright future for himself in Dallas and could eventually become the highest-paid player at the quarterback position. The Mississippi State product has made a career out of proving people wrong and the Pro Bowler says that's what has motivated him all along.

Heading into the 2018 campaign, Prescott may face the toughest challenge yet in Dallas. The Cowboys have overhauled the receiving corps with some of Prescott's favorites no longer an option downfield. Longtime tight end Jason Witten decided to retire to pursue a career in broadcasting in the same way Romo did when he walked away. Veteran wide receiver Dez Bryant has also moved on with Dallas releasing him early in the NFL offseason.

Without his favorite targets in the passing game, Prescott will have the challenge of bringing along a newcomer in Allen Hurns. The team signed Hurns in NFL free agency this offseason and he has already been earned the No. 1 spot at wide receiver.

As for notable departures in the receiving corps, Ryan Switzer and Brice Butler join Witten and Bryant as players no longer in Dallas. Butler signed with the Arizona Cardinals while Switzer was traded to the Oakland Raiders.

Needless to say, Prescott's motto will be put to the test this year as he'll have to continue to prove his worth under center for American's Team.
