Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott shared a special moment with brother Tad on Sunday evening from his hospital room after the Pro Bowler went down with a terrible ankle injury in the second half of his team's Week 5 tilt with the New York Giants.

In a photo shared to Twitter by brother Tad Prescott, Dak is seen smiling in his hospital bed with an IV attached to his arm. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier this evening that the Mississippi State product is undergoing ankle surgery today.

Prescott has been unbelievable this season despite leading the Cowboys to a 1-3 record through four weeks of the 2020 NFL season. Also entering Week 5 against the Giants, Prescott is leading the league in passing yards; however, after exiting Sunday's matchup with the G-Men, his teammates held Dak up and came through with a win to improve to 2-3.

The NFL and sports worlds were caught gasping and waiting to see the severity of the injury when Prescott held his limping leg and ankle on the ground at AT&T Stadium in the third quarter on Sunday. It was a brutal moment for both Prescott and the Cowboys, who saw their star gunslinger clearly hurting badly. Prescott was lifted and carted away with tears in his eyes.

Dak Prescott opened up earlier in the season about his own mental health challenges, spurred by the recent loss of his other brother Jace. The Prescott brothers were all very close, and losing Jace to suicide took a tremendous toll on Dak's own mental health, by which he persevered and was lifted by his family and teammates to get back on the field despite the persistent COVID-19 pandemic troubling the NFL, too.

Seeing Prescott smile alongside Tad, however, is a welcome sight and the NFL landscape is keeping the Cowboys star quarterback in mind despite rivalries.
