Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a shoulder injury right at the start of training camp, and the team has been taking it slow with him as he recovers. Prescott didn't play in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday and just started doing some “light throwing” on Saturday, according to ESPN's Todd Archer.

Prescott initially strained his right shoulder on July 28. It's still not clear when the quarterback will return to practice or if he'll even play in the preseason, but Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is still optimistic about where things are at:

“Definitely him staying back, he was able to get some extra treatment, do some extra things,” McCarthy said. “Once again, this is more us than him. This is us being cautious, so I feel really good about where he is.”

Prescott has been doing other drills as he prepares for the 2021 campaign, including working on his footwork and conditioning. The Cowboys' star quarterback is coming off a devastating ankle injury that ended his 2020 season prematurely. That injury is fully healed now, so there aren't any concerns about that.

The Cowboys are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season in which they finished 6-10. They'll need Prescott back and at his best in order to have success.
