The Dallas Cowboys are fortunate enough to have a very young roster at the moment, one filled with superb players. However, that also means that the heralded NFC East franchise must sign some of their more talented players to long-term contract extensions sooner rather than later — quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Amari Cooper included.

With Prescott looking more and more like the team's quarterback of the future, Cooper was originally acquired by Dallas via trade with the Oakland Raiders midway through the 2018 regular season. With both players currently serving as a large part of the Cowboys' offensive scheme, it appears as though the team is working diligently to lock up both players for the foreseeable future.

“Yeah, we’re always open to looking at things,” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday, via NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk. “Certainly if there are opportunities there that make sense, then we’ll progress. I think pretty much everybody’s on it pretty good that there’s some pretty active discussions now with Dak and Amari, but it doesn’t mean that some can’t pick up in short order with other players that we have on our roster that we certainly want to keep here in Dallas and have them remain Cowboys in the future.”

Of course, the Cowboys won the NFC East division a season ago en route to returning to the postseason. However, Dallas was once again unable to reach the Super Bowl with the Cowboys continuing quite the lengthy drought.
