In the days leading up to the trade deadline later this month, the Dallas Cowboys have pulled the trigger a major trade acquiring former Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a 2019 first-round pick.

The Cowboys have quickly begun the process of getting further acquainted with their new addition that has reportedly seen them ask about plays called during his time with the Raiders, according to Matt Mosley of The Dallas Morning News.

Although this is a strange way of inquiring about what worked in Oakland for him, it shows that the Cowboys have some major plans for him to help him get quickly into the flow of things. Cooper has had his struggles with his health and production over the last two seasons, but he has proven to be a highly talented wide receiver.

The 24-year-old is not too far removed from back-to-back 1,000 receiving yard campaigns to begin his career that earned him a pair of Pro Bowl selections. It is a move that possibly gives Dallas a legitimate No.1 wide receiver that they have greatly lacked through the first seven games this season following the departure of wide receiver Dez Bryant and tight end Jason Witten. His presence should provide an immediate uptick to the offense that currently ranks 29th in the league in passing. Quarterback Dak Prescott has struggled to produce at a high clip and the pairing with Cooper in the passing game could help in that area tremendously.

The decision to make the move now comes at a beneficial time for Cooper as he will have nearly two weeks to get acquainted with the Cowboys' playbook as they have a Week 8 bye and will play the Tennessee Titans on Nov. 5. Ultimately, only time will tell if this was the right move for Dallas.
