By one metric, the 2020 Dallas Cowboys are the worst team in the franchise's history, at least through 11 games of a season.

The Washington Football Team feasted on the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, eating up the Dallas defense in a 41-16 rout at AT&T Stadium. With the result, the Cowboys (3-8) have now surrendered 20 points or more in all 11 games this season – the longest streak of its type in franchise history, per NFL Research. The 2013-14 and 1962-63 squads had allowed 20-plus points in each of its first 10 games.

Dallas trailed by four points going into the fourth quarter, only to be outscored 21-0 by Washington in the final frame as the game became a laugher.

Overall, Dallas is giving up 32.6 points per game, the worst in the league. Defensive coordinator Mike Nolan's group has allowed the fourth-most yards in football, though only six teams have played 11 games. No team has surrendered more touchdown passes (25) or total TDs (40) than the Cowboys.

Tot be fair, some of the team's defensive stats are skewed by its depleted and ineffective offense, which went from explosive to inept when quarterback Dak Prescott broke his ankle in Week 5. Besides a 31-28 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10, Dallas has generally struggled to sustain drives and control the time of possession, which enables more opportunities for opposing teams to carve up the defense.

On the bright side, Dallas is miraculously still in the race in the miserable NFC East.

Washington (4-7) took control of the division for now after the Turkey Day win, while the 3-7 New York Giants face the Joe Burrow-less Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The struggling Philadelphia Eagles (3-6-1) host the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.

At least the Cowboys can be thankful for that.
