Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Thursday that defensive end Randy Gregory will miss a few weeks after getting an MRI for a calf injury, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapaport. McCarthy admitted Gregory could go on injured reserve, which would knock him out for at least three weeks.

Gregory has had a solid season for the Cowboys, racking up five sacks in seven games. The Dallas defense hasn't been great in 2021, but it hasn't been the total dumpster fire it was last season. With Gregory out, expect to see more Micah Parsons as an edge rusher.

While the Cowboys have had a mostly great campaign, they're coming off a disastrous 30-16 loss to the Denver Broncos. Dak Prescott really struggled in his return from an injury, and the defense got shredded both on the ground and through the air in one of their worst efforts of the year.

Dallas is still 6-2, though, with a great opportunity to get back on the winning track at home against a mediocre Atlanta Falcons team in Week 10. The Cowboys will have to contend with stud rookie Kyle Pitts and the electric Cordarrelle Patterson, so they they'll need to bring a better defensive performance without Gregory on Sunday.
