With all that's gone wrong for the Dallas Cowboys nearly halfway through the season, it appears they'll turn to the trading game to recoup assets and trim salary. Per the NFL's Ian Rapoport, Dallas has decided to make defensive end Everson Griffen available in trade talks.

Griffen has turned in a decent season so far for the Cowboys. The three-time Pro-Bowler has tallied 20 tackles, 10 of which were solo. He's also racked up 2.5 sacks. The Cowboys' defense has been horrid through Week 7, leaving much to be desired amongst other aspects of the team. With a ridiculous 25-3 loss to the Washington Football Team on Sunday, defensive coordinator Mike Nolan will likely have to be moved on from in terms of being the guru they rely on.

They rank dead last in defense in the league, allowing roughly 34.7 points per game. They're second-to-last in the league in terms of forcing turnovers. While the defensive line shares a fair bit of the blame in the Cowboys' struggles, there's much to go around from every aspect of their game.

Whether or not the availability of Griffen is a sign of where the front office is deciding to move on defense remains to be seen. Dallas is currently 2-5 in a lowly, untalented NFC East division behind Washington and the Philadelphia Eagles, with only the New York Giants trailing them. The changing of staff will likely come at the end of the season in terms of head coach Mike McCarthy if they aren't able to find themselves atop the division by season's end.
