The Dallas Cowboys made headlines with their acquisition of former Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper during the 2018 NFL season. Even with the 2019 NFL Draft coming up, the Cowboys are confident that they ultimately made the right choice.

Dallas parted ways with a first-rounder in exchange for Cooper which has turned out to be the 27th overall pick in the draft. Executive vice president Stephen Jones said during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan that there is buyer's remorse regarding the deal, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News:

“I think you’d be hard-pressed to find anybody that would’ve made a difference on our roster like Amari made last year and like we feel like he’s going to make as me move forward,” Jones said.

There is certainly plenty of truth to Jones' comments. Although there is plenty of talent in this upcoming draft, it is far-fetched to assume any rookie having as big of an impact as Cooper did last season. He finished the 2018 campaign with 53 receptions for 725 yards and six touchdowns in nine games with the Cowboys. His emergence as the safety net for quarterback Dak Prescott helped kickstart the offense down the final stretch of the year while earning a third trip to the Pro Bowl.

Regardless, the Cowboys are not paying off their investment in Cooper. He is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is set for a lucrative payday next offseason. Dallas also has Prescott's looming extension to take care of and they already broke the bank on edge rusher Demarcus Lawrence's contract this offseason. The front office could look to get a deal done for Cooper in order to help reduce the cap hit moving forward.
