The Dallas Cowboys have some pretty big contracts to work out this offseason, including for Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper. Those will be a high priority to them.

However, they can't all be on the same level. It appears some contract negotiations will be of much bigger concern.

According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, Byron Jones is not at the top of the list.

“On Tuesday, executive vice president Stephen Jones characterized re-signing Prescott as the “No. 1 priority” this offseason and Cooper as “No. 2.” On Wednesday, Cowboys vice president of player personnel Will McClay was asked directly about Jones.

“He’s a starting-caliber NFL corner,” McClay said. “A really good player. We have to figure out his financial value and if it fits for us.””

It doesn't seem like they are sold on bringing back Jones. This is speculation obviously, but “figure out his financial value and if it fits for us,” doesn't scream, “we want to bring him back” for the Cowboys.

That's especially true considering what was said about Prescott and Cooper. It was made abundantly clear that the Cowboys would be willing to work through whatever they had to bring the duo back.

Now, this does not mean it's a lock that the Cowboys re-sign Prescott and Cooper, and it does not mean they won't re-sign Jones either.

It just means that, as of right now, the Cowboys don't seem nearly as worried about the status of Jones as they do their other star players. We'll see if that changes down the road or if they end up working out a deal with the cornerback anyways.

Even if he is not the “top” priority, you'd have to imagine the Cowboys would still like to try and bring back a star-caliber cornerback like Jones. If not, they may have to target some help in the draft.
