The Dallas Cowboys are awaiting the decisions from the NFL on reinstatements for a couple of their defensive players. Besides Aldon Smith, the Cowboys also gave an update on Randy Gregory's reinstatement.

During a conversation with Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Stephen Jones shared what Dallas has heard about the reinstatements:

“We haven’t heard anything,” Jones told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “I do know for sure Aldon has been in front of the Commissioner. He’s waiting to hear back. I think Randy may or — I’m not exactly sure where that is. Sometimes we’re not privy to that. We’re not sure when we’ll hear something. Obviously, the league is looking out for their best interest. As men off the field and certainly that’s what’s first and foremost and the priority is how they’re coming off the field. If ultimately they get to a point which we think they can that Roger [Goodell] feels like they can come back to work and play football and that’s in their best interest in addition to what they need off the field, then certainly we’ll welcome them back and go to work.”

Back in March, Gregory filed for reinstatement from the NFL after being suspended for the 2019 season due to violating the league's substance-abuse policy. In addition, the Cowboys signed Smith to a one-year deal after he's been out of the NFL since 2015.

For Gregory, he's hoping to prove himself in 2020 so he can earn a new contract next offseason. Just a couple of seasons ago, Gregory flashed upside, recording six sacks and two forced fumbles in 2018.

With the loss of Robert Quinn in free agency, the Cowboys would prefer to get an answer on Gregory as soon as possible. But it appears that the NFL is in no rush to give Dallas an answer.
