The Dallas Cowboys have a job opening for a wide receivers coach position after Derek Dooley left that role vacant for a chance to be the Missouri Tigers program’s offensive coordinator.

According to Todd Archer of ESPN, the Cowboys have already interviewed a candidate that is very much familiar with the team’s fans in former Dallas wide receiver Miles Austin.

Told Miles Austin has interviewed for the Cowboys vacant wide receiver coach spot. Austin has worked behind the scenes in the scouting department the last two years. He was a two-time Pro Bowler in his time with the Cowboys. Derek Dooley left to be Missouri's offensive coordinator last week.

Austin has no coaching experience on any level. Perhaps the most pertinent experience he has for the job he is applying for is being a scout for the Cowboys for two years. Of course, that aside from being a wide receiver himself.

Miles Austin played for 10 seasons in the NFL from 2006 to 2015. He spent the majority of his career with the Cowboys, playing for eight years in Dallas colors In Dallas, Austin recorded 4,481 receiving yards and 34 touchdowns on 301 receptions. He also a pair of one-year stints with Cleveland Browns and the Philadelphia Eagles. He last played in the NFL for the Eagles in 2015, where he only had 224 receiving yards and a touchdown.

All told, Austin had 5,273 receiving yards and 37 touchdowns in 129 regular season games in his NFL career that is highlighted by a pair of trips to the Pro Bowl in 2009 and 2010.
