With Andy Dalton injured, Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Ben DiNucci is set to make his first career NFL start in Week 8 against the rival Philadelphia Eagles.

As expected, DiNucci is pretty excited about making his first start on Sunday Night Football on NBC.

“This is an opportunity of a lifetime,” Cowboys QB Ben DiNucci said Thursday, via Pro Football Talk.

“I think, as a rookie seventh-rounder coming in, you see Dak and you see Andy at the top of the depth chart. It’s, ‘Hey, there’s no chance that I’m going to be on the field this year.’ But hey, this is 2020. What else do you expect? Here we are. Week 8 of my rookie year I’ve got a chance to go out there on Sunday Night Football and do what I love to do. I couldn’t be happier or more excited.”

The Cowboys are 2-5 on the season. They have the worst defense in the NFL, as the team is giving up 34.7 points per game.

DiNucci was the 231st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He played his college football at Pittsburgh and finished his career with six touchdown passes and seven interceptions in 11 games.

The Cowboys are in third place in the NFC East Division. They are still alive for the division crown since the NFC East is the worst division in the NFL.

Right now, the Eagles are atop the division with a record of 2-4-1. Philly will be favored to defeat the Cowboys in Week 8 since DiNucci is a rookie QB who has only thrown three passes in the NFL.
