The Dallas Cowboys just made a minor move to reconfigure their defensive line. According to Calvin Watkins of The Athletic, the Cowboys inked defensive tackle Caraun Reid to take over the spot on the team’s 53-man roster temporarily left by defensive tackle Datone Jones due to an injury.

Cowboys signed DT Caruan Reid, a player they’ve liked for some time. DT Datone Jones (knee) was placed on IR. He can return in eight weeks if he recovers and there is a need to bring him back.

Reid is fairly familiar with the Cowboys’ environment, having spent the summer with Dallas before being cut ahead of the 2018 NFL season. Reid last saw action in a regular season game with the Detroit Lions last year, appearing in just one contest. The 26-year-old Reid, who went to Princeton in college, was selected by the Lions in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft and played with them over his first two seasons in the league. He also had a stint with the San Diego Chargers in 2016.

Caraun Reid has 28 tackles and three sacks in 34 games played, including 12 starts, in his NFL career so far.

Jones, on the other hand, missed the Cowboys’ first two games of the season with a knee issue, but made his 2018 debut last Sunday in a loss to the  Seattle Seahawks on the road, but got hurt again, thus his IR designation.
