After their win over the San Franciso 49ers on Sunday, a victory propelled by their defense, Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence expressed his belief that they are starting to get their groove back.

In the Cowboys' 41-33 victory, they forced two fumbles in the first six minutes of the game. Lawrence claimed that their defense has been picking up in the last few games, which has enabled them to snag those victories.

“I feel like we’re starting to step up to the plate, live up to our expectations,” said Demarcus Lawrence, who forced a fumble in each of the last two gamesofthe Cowboys, per Jori Epstein of USA Today. “I feel like this is the turning corner for us. We’re getting our young guys playing well, our vets are playing well, and it’s all about just staying healthy and attacking the ball.

“It is contagious.”

Defensive end Dorance Armstrong forced the first fumble on the punt return on 49ers wideout Richie James. Cowboys receiver Cedrick Wilson recovered the ball, setting up their first points in the game. The second fumble was forced by Lawrence, which was then recovered by Aldon Smith near the nine-minute mark.

CeeDee Lamb, who had five catches for 85 yards, acknowledged the jolt of energy that the defense gave the offensive line. He also pointed out that his responsibilities stacked up after Dak Prescott went down.

“When Dak went down, I knew in my position I had to step up and help the team a lot,” Lamb said of injured Cowboys QB Dak Prescott. “Defensive guy, when they turn over the ball, it’s just electric. It gives a boost the offense, and it forces us to play confident football.”

The Cowboys have a chance to build on their defensive momentum again next Sunday when they face the Philadelphia Eagles.
