Dallas Cowboys franchise quarterback Dak Prescott still doesn't have a deal after negotiations stretching back to last season when America's Team and the fourth-year signal-caller could have agreed to a contract extension. Pro Bowl teammate defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, who earned a massive windfall from the Cowboys last free agency, is speaking out on Dallas' decision.

“All the chips are in his hands,” Lawrence said. “He will do the same. Just having that pressure on you there is only one thing to do that is to achieve. I feel he is going to do that. . . . He knows the situation and what to prepare for. I feel he is the ultimate leader. Understanding his character, I know Dak is going to be ready for this position. When he thrives there is nothing nobody can say, y’all are going to have to pay him his money.”

Prescott, 26, threw the second-most passing yards in the NFL in 2019 for the Cowboys, 4,902. This total kept him behind only Jameis Winston. Prescott connected on 30 touchdowns and threw 11 interceptions.

A former fourth-round pick in the 2016 draft out of Mississippi State, Prescott was ushered into the starting role as a rookie when veteran Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo went down with a season-long injury in preseason. Prescott then won Offensive Rookie of the Year and has since earned two selections on the NFC's Pro Bowl team representing the Cowboys.

It's been a long road for the Cowboys and Prescott, and according to Lawrence, the starry franchise has to fork up the dough now or in the not-so-distant future.
