The Dallas Cowboys thought they had locked up a new deal for Randy Gregory this offseason, but things didn't end up going as they'd expected. In a last-second change of heart, Gregory shockingly spurned the Cowboys and latched on with the Denver Broncos in NFL free agency. Former Cowboys teammate DeMarcus Lawrence has broken his silence on Gregory's decision to join the Broncos, and he admitted he was just as surprised as the rest of us, via Michael Gehlken.

Lawrence admitted that Gregory's decision came as a shock to him, revealing that he entered his daily workout under the impression that the outside linebacker had re-upped with the team. After leaving his workout, however, he discovered the news that Gregory had changed his mind, much to his surprise. Lawrence didn't seem to hold any hard feelings over Gregory's decision, calling him a “brother for life” and wishing him the best in his next chapter.

Clearly, Gregory's decision came as a shock to pretty much everyone within the Cowboys' organization, including his teammates on defense. Gregory ended up signing a five-year, $70 million deal with the Broncos that will keep him with the team through the 2026 season. The Cowboys reportedly submitted a similar offer, but differences between the two sides arose late in negotiations, causing Gregory to back out.

Gregory then went on to bash the Cowboys' organization on social media, calling them out for their “toxic” tendencies in the wake of his contract dispute and suggesting Jerry Jones acted in “bad faith” during their negotiations.
