The Dallas Cowboys are arguably one of the most talented teams on both sides of the football in the NFL right now. The defense and offense are stacked with the team having Super Bowl aspirations heading into the 2019 season as things appear to be coming together for America's Team.

One of the reasons the defense took a giant leap forward last season was the presence of star defensive end, DeMarcus Lawrence. The up-and-coming player coming off the edge earned his second straight Pro Bowl selection and now is as ambitious as ever in his efforts to become the best player he can possibly be.

Lawrence recently opened up about what his No. 1 goal is moving forward, via 247Sports.com.

“Absolutely,” he said. “My goal is to be the best to ever play this game, so you know for sure that I'm going to want to beat that sack record and make it my own — so he can talk about beating my record.”

The Cowboys defensive end is now a rich man after signing a five-year, $105 million contract extension earlier this offseason. However, he's working his way back after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum which he appears to be making progress with as training camp approaches.

Last year, Lawrence put up some solid numbers for the Cowboys. The Boise St. product recorded 10.5 sacks to go along with two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and 64 combined tackles. Lawrence was a major reason why Dallas was a force on defense, and as long as he comes back healthy from surgery, he'll continue to be among the best in the NFL at his position.
