The Dallas Cowboys could go in a variety of directions with the No. 17 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and one of their former players has an idea of who they should target. While speaking about what the Cowboys should do, DeMarcus Ware spoke very highly of K'Lavon Chaisson to 105.3 The Fan (via Pro Football Talk).

“He’s a freaking monster … Or, if they’re going to that hybrid-type thing, they can go get some interior defensive linemen, too. Like a Derrick Brown from Auburn, guys that are really versatile, really strong. Get pressure up front, and then get a couple guys on the outside that can be more the hybrid inside-outside ‘backers …

“And he’s always behind the backfield, he’s always chasing from behind, and he reminds me of myself. This is one of those type guys where the motor does not turn off on the football field. This is what you want: a crazy banshee out there just trying to get to the football. That’s why I light up so much. He’s that type of guy.”

After an offseason where they lost Robert Quinn and Byron Jones in free agency, the Cowboys' most glaring needs in the draft reside at cornerback and at edge rusher. With the No. 17 pick, Dallas should have an opportunity to grab one of the positions atop their list of needs.

For Ware, he believes the Cowboys could grab an edge rusher to pair with DeMarcus Lawrence next season. In that case, someone like Chaisson makes perfect sense, giving Dallas an immediate boost in the pass-rushing department.

While speaking about Chaisson, Ware sees a bit of himself in the LSU pass rusher. To finish his career at LSU, Chaisson notched 6.5 sacks, 13.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble in 2019.

Similar to how Chaisson was in 2019, Ware was once an edge rusher for the Cowboys who was able to draw the attention of the opposing offense. Given his affinity for Chaisson, Ware would be fond of the mock draft that put Chaisson and the Cowboys together.
